Child Support

Whether you will pay child support or receive it, many questions arise once a case is filed. Child Support can be initiated through the route of the Administrative support division, or through a divorce or paternity case. Will I have enough money to support my children? To still support myself? In Missouri there is a child support calculation worksheet that takes into consideration each parent’s income; the theory being the child still receiving a benefit of a certain percentage of each parent’s income just as if the parents had remaining together. Right or wrong, there has to be a rule and the Form 14 is what is used to calculate a presumed amount. The Court, however, may use its discretion to deviate up or down depending on other circumstance it believes relevant. If you have questions or need legal advise regarding child support, please call The Sims Law Firm to see how we can help.
