Whether you will pay child support or receive it, many questions arise once a case is filed. Child Support can be initiated through the route of the Administrative support division, or through a divorce or paternity case. Will I have enough money to support my children? To still support myself? In Missouri there is a child support calculation worksheet that takes into consideration each parent’s income; the theory being the child still receiving a benefit of a certain percentage of each parent’s income just as if the parents had remaining together. Right or wrong, there has to be a rule and the Form 14 is what is used to calculate a presumed amount. The Court, however, may use its discretion to deviate up or down depending on other circumstance it believes relevant.
